New Changes to Zylblog

Hello Everyone,

Over the past few years since the beginnings of Zylstrablog on Blogger.com, and later private IP-based hosting through a free domain redirect (anyone remember zylstrablog.co.nr ? Still works…), and then zylblog.info and now zylblog.com, my interests in computers has faded now to the point where I only find about one new article I am interested in about every 1.5-2 months.

I have decided to no longer specifically target computer or technology related articles. Indeed, I’ll no longer have a real focus, and Zylblog will be much more “blog-like”. I will no longer maintain a separate music blog (which I didn’t like maintaining separately anyways). Read on for what my site stats are (as I’ve always kept those secret).

Visitor usage of Zylblog has changed greatly over the past few years. When I started on IP-based hosting, it was around 300 visitors a month. When Zylblog.info came along, visitor usage shortly climbed to about 500, then continually climbed about 100 visitors more each month. Before I switched to Zylblog.com, I had 2000-3000 visitors a month, mainly to a specific few articles (“Play Sims 3 Online”, “Play Sims 3 Under Linux”, “Accordion Fingering Chart”, and a few others). When I switched to Zylblog.com, I took a huge traffic hit (as of this day, 1, 056 visitors over the last 30 days). I share all of this since I have never shared my general visitor statistics, but since I no longer do hand-written ads, it is not something I need keep secret.

What can you expect of Zylblog?

First off, I will keep all previous posts and no web addresses will change. The occasional technology article might come around.
Second, Zylblog will turn into a more personal blog with more about my own life (yeah, a blog-blog…) and college life, with a whole lot more music related information and blog entries.
Third, I’ll tell you what I am actually doing right now:

I am a full time student at a local community college, Wenatchee Valley College. I studied Network Administration there for two years and now have a technical degree. I decided

to go on and get my AA-Transfer degree. I plan to study Music

Education at a 4-year university, probably University of Idaho. I play pipe organ and theater organ (there is a difference).

I hope you will enjoy the changes that will come to Zylblog, and that if you like what I write, you might subscribe.

Thanks for reading
Best,
Jesse Zylstra

About Jesse Zylstra

Hey! My name is Jesse Zylstra, and I am the administrator of this website. I used to write about free software and programs, online web applications, and new technology -- especially open-source. Now I just write udder nonsense. I also play pipe organ, which I'm told is a fun and interesting fact about me. In the past, I studied network administration. Now I've been trying to pursue a real fake bachelors degree for the last, oh, 10 years or so.
