Safe Downloads: FileHippo

Some of you may have noticed that nearly all my software download links go to a website called FileHippo.com. Filehippo is one of my favorite places to find new software to play around with and share with others. Why? I think their mission statement will say it best:

“With FileHippo.com our aim is to provide you with the simplest method of downloading the newest versions of the best software – without the usual excessive popups or spyware and without the low quality software.” (Read more on their website)

Filehippo.com is completely free of adware, viruses, and spyware. All of their software is picked through, must accomplish its’ advertised goal, and must work properly. As someone who writes a lot about software programs for your computer, I want to make sure that my visitors always get to safe software.

In all, FileHippo is like a safe version of Download.com. It is not spoiled with crap “Trial” software, and no overly-limited “Shareware” gets put onto their website. If you are looking for new software — for practical use or just for fun — try searching around on FileHippo.

About Jesse Zylstra

Hey! My name is Jesse Zylstra, and I am the administrator of this website. I used to write about free software and programs, online web applications, and new technology -- especially open-source. Now I just write udder nonsense. I also play pipe organ, which I'm told is a fun and interesting fact about me. In the past, I studied network administration. Now I've been trying to pursue a real fake bachelors degree for the last, oh, 10 years or so.
