It’s the second of the month! That means: It’s monthly “Updates” time, where I tell you about the goings-on down in the [not really real] office and server headquarters… (I really ought to take a picture of that mess of wires.)
During a backup last month, the total content (including all comments, posts, tag and special data) of ZylBlog reached 893.5 KB (914970 bytes). It might not seem like a lot, but 893.5KB of text is a LOT of information.
On June 20th, ZylBlog was upgraded to WordPress version 3.0 with success and no downtime, and completed in less than 30 seconds. New handy feature: “Updates” manager, making all updates appear in the same location.
Immediately after the upgrade to 3.0, the new update manger informed me that I had an update to JQ Theme version 3.4. The theme installation did not complete correctly resulting in everything being unreadable, and was replaced with a temporary theme until fixed.
On June 30th, I gave up on trying to fix the JQ theme. The problem is buried too far down in the coding of WordPress. Instead, I modded another theme and introduced a new header image.
No server outages (over 10 minutes) occurred this month.

Things on the To-Do List:
- Stop posted ads from showing up in the RSS feed.
I get paid to make pages that have ads, I don’t get paid to deliver the ads to your RSS reader. - Get a new server (this has been sitting in the think tank for a while now). Need of a server will become more and more prevalent in the future, and it is my goal to replace the current server before any problems occur.
Nice update. Happen to see your post from Twitter and came in to check it out.
