Google Wave Releases More Extensions

Google Wave has recently released a few more extensions to help make your Wave experience more useful. As Google plans to merge Wave with Gmail, I am hopeful that the extensions will end up making Wave a worthwhile experience. Still, I see no spectacular use for Wave. The officially developed, managed, or officially recognized extensions in the extensions list is growing and I hope that they will make the service more useful.

To access any of the listed extensions and more from Google Wave, just click “Extensions” in the left-hand menu.
Here are a few new extensions that appeared in the month of March just recently:

Grocery List — This extension helps you build a grocery list with multiple people (hopefully the ones who live with you)

Image Gadget
— Allows you to add images to your Wave from the web, re-size them, and add annotations.

Iframe Gadget — Lets you embed a webpage into a Wave. This one isn’t very useful to the average person, as linking to a page is more efficient.

Likey Gadget
— A “Like” or “Dislike” link is placed above your Wave, allowing basic input back.

Colcrop — A game. “Cover as many cells as possible, by choosing adjacent colors. Play against a participant or the computer. Computer Level 4 is pretty hard to defeat.”

Napkin Gadget — Allows you to doodle with a friend on a blank canvas

Waffle (Date-Picket Gadget) — Assist with the process of planing a date for an event. Add Waffle to your Wave, pick a few dates, and Waffle will show the most likely-to-work date.

Mind Map Gadget
— “Collaborate using a hierarchical mind map.”

Pollo Gadget — Allows you to create polls for friends, or even strangers. Radio buttons or check boxes.

Take-Out Gadget — Assists with ordering takeout for a group, or do those energy-boosting coffee runs.

Yellow Highlighter — Highlights text with one click.

About Jesse Zylstra

Hey! My name is Jesse Zylstra, and I am the administrator of this website. I used to write about free software and programs, online web applications, and new technology -- especially open-source. Now I just write udder nonsense. I also play pipe organ, which I'm told is a fun and interesting fact about me. In the past, I studied network administration. Now I've been trying to pursue a real fake bachelors degree for the last, oh, 10 years or so.
